Story : In April 2003, avid mountaineer Aron Ralston (James Franco) goes hiking at Utah’s Canyonlands National Park; he did not tell anyone where he was going. He befriends hikers Kristi (Kate Mara) and Megan (Amber Tamblyn), and shows them an underground pool before they head home. After they part ways, Aron continues on through a slot canyon in Bluejohn Canyon. While climbing, he loses his grip and falls, knocking a boulder which traps his right hand and wrist against the wall.
